Description

Postcards. Receipts. Grocery lists. Photocopies. Zines. Watercolor sketches. Post-it doodles. Bus tickets. Four-leaf clovers. MICA IDs. Safe deposit box keys. Honduran cash. Tweezers. A short list of all the things Decker Library staff have found in returned books.

We all do it - grab a random slip of paper for a bookmark, or leave our post-it notes behind as we rush to return books before breaks. Every semester since 2014 we've been collecting the flotsam and jetsam of book debris - from holiday cards to collages - and displaying it on our shelf behind the service desk.

Each term we start anew, which has resulted in many semesters' worth of papers, postcards, and photos - we never know what we'll find.

This exhibit is a chance to see what MICA has left in its books - where you've been, what's on your mind, what concepts you're drawing, what ideas you're workshopping, what exhibits you've seen, what articles you're reading, and what weird stuff your peers have left behind.
